Fullerton College Re-Test / Re-Assess Policy

Accuplacer Re-testing Options

  • You may re-test after 90 days.
  • Before 90 days you may re-test with counselor approval
    • Consult with a counselor regarding re-testing, bring documentation that would support your request for a re-test (e.g. high school or college transcripts, other test scores, etc.)
    • If approved, bring the counselor’s re-test authorization to the Assessment Center to schedule your re-testing

Assessment scores are valid two years from your test date.

Chemistry assessment test and ESL Guided Self-Placement can only be taken once.

Before Assessment

The following must be completed before assessments can be administered. You will not be able to test and will have to reschedule for different date if incomplete.

  • Submit a Fullerton College application and received your student ID number
  • Complete/Pass the online New Student orientation accessed through your myGateway account, “Student” tab. All new and returning students must complete the orientation. If you are having difficulty accessing the online orientation at home, please contact the Assessment Center for more information.

You must bring the following to your assessment

  • Valid identification (e.g. CA driver’s license or other state driver’s licence, State of CA issued identification card, current high school ID, Passport, Federal Identification Card, Tribal Identification Card Naturalization Card or Military ID)
  • Expired documents (bearing expiration dates that have passed) are not acceptable, no matter how recently they may have expired.
  • Fullerton College student ID number

Multiple Measure Placement

Fullerton College counselors will use multiple measures to assess and determine the best placement options.

Measures include:

  • 11th through 12 grade high school transcript
  • Advanced Placement (AP)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
  • Other colleges transcripts and self-reporting

For placement in the following:

  • English or English as a Second Language (ESL)
  • Reading
  • Mathematics
    • A higher placement in English and Math may be possible by showing your second semester grades of your senior year
