ESL Self-Guided Placement

New ESL STUDENTS without a U.S. high school diploma or data (e.g., adult immigrants, refugees, F-1 visa international students) students complete our ESL Guided Self-Placement (GSP) assessment.
Please allow 1 hour to complete Fullerton College’s ESL assessment process.

Fullerton College’s English-As-A-Second Language (ESL) Guided Self-Placement

  1. Students answer general survey questions about their English level and English-learning experience.
  2. Students look at two readings and decide which one is closest to their level.
  3. Students look at writing samples from students entering that level and decide if that is close to their writing level.
  4. The ESL GSP can only be taken one time.

Fullerton College’s ESL Guided Self-Placement is available remotely by clicking Placement Guide button below.

Students’ Right to Enroll in Transfer-level Courses.

AB705 gives students the right to enroll directly in transfer-level courses, unless the college can demonstrate that they are highly unlikely to succeed there, and that they will have higher completion if they begin in a remedial prerequisite course.
